Neuroimmunology and Multiple Sclerosis

The Department of Neurology, University of California, Irvine seeks an outstanding, fellowship trained Neurologist in the field of Neuroimmunology/Multiple Sclerosis to take a leadership role in developing the clinical service for patients with MS and other neuroimmunological disorders, clinical research and trials. The position is offered in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) or Clinical Neurology series at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank commensurate with experience. The candidate will join an active clinical and research program that has been designated by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as a “Comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis Care Center” as well as a “Collaborative Multiple Sclerosis Research Center”. The MS clinic is on the campus of the University of California, Irvine and is the only academic MS program serving the ~3 million people in the Orange County area. The candidate is expected to develop a robust clinical practice with significant activity in clinical trials. Involvement in medical student education and our residency training program is also expected. The applicant must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. and fellowship in the field of Neuroimmunology/Multiple Sclerosis. Salary, rank, and other clinical series may be considered depending on qualifications.

Professional qualifications:

  • An M.D., M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree with active board certification or eligibility in Neurology with clinical fellowship training in Multiple Sclerosis/neuroimmunology.
  • Eligibility to obtain an active and unrestricted medical practice license to practice in the State of California.
  • Qualified to hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Neurology and hold medical staff privileges with the UCI Medical Center.
  • Rank and academic track will be commensurate with candidate experience and credentials.

Personal qualifications/experience:

  • Dedication to patients, their families, and providing excellent service.
  • Interest and experience in working in a collaborative comprehensive neurosciences center.
  • Active involvement with international, national, and/or regional professional societies preferred.
  • Interests in teaching and/or clinical research/clinical trials.
