The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the University of California Irvine seeks qualified candidates at any rank in the non-tenure track Health Sciences Clinical Professor series. Clinicians interested in pursuing an academic medicine career in pathology will be given the opportunity to grow in a dynamic department that provides care for all UC Irvine clinical locations. This includes the UC Irvine Douglas Hospital, a modern facility opened in 2009 with state-of-the-art operating rooms and all-new equipment. The UC Irvine Medical Center is a 411-bed tertiary care facility and home to specialty services including an NCI-designated Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, H. H. Chao Comprehensive Digestive Disease Center, UC Irvine Regional Burn Center, and the only Level I trauma center in Orange County. It provides diagnostic services to UC Irvine Health patients as well as consultative and referral services to more than 30 hospitals in Orange County and 30 other regional hospitals.
The successful candidate is expected to have a strong record and commitment to clinical service, education, and clinical or translational research. The candidate will be responsible for all surgical pathology services when on duty, participate in departmental and hospital committees, and teach medical students, residents, and fellows. Expertise and/or fellowship training in one or more of the following subspecialty areas is highly desirable: GI, GYN, Derm., Soft Tissue/Bone, Pulmonary. Candidates with experience and/or strong interest in leadership roles in residency training are also preferred. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience.
Requirements - All applicants must be board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic Pathology, and qualified for medical licensure in the State of California.
