The Gaut and Koenig labs at UC Irvine and UC Riverside are soliciting candidates for an NSF funded postdoctoral position to study the molecular dynamics of transposable element silencing over time.
The successful applicant will be hired formally at UC Irvine, but both labs will be involved in the project. The successful candidate can join either lab, but it is thought that much of the initial work is likely to proceed more smoothly at UC Riverside, given the concentration of plant molecular biology on that campus. The successful candidate will have a PhD with experience in molecular biology and Arabidopsis genetics. Training in one or more of the following fields would also be beneficial: evolution, molecular biology, bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics, or functional genomics.

Consistent with UCI policy, the duration of the position is dependent upon performance (annual appointments, with potential for renewal), and salary will be commensurate with experience. Applications should include: a CV; a research statement explaining the candidate’s previous research experience and future research objectives; and contact information of two or more references. Additional information about the Gaut lab can be found at http://gautlab.bio.uci.edu/ Additional information about the Koenig lab is here: https://www.koenig-lab.com/.
