Postdoctoral Scholar on Online Learning Environments
A full-time postdoctoral scholar is needed at the University of California, Irvine for an NSF-funded research project, Investigating Virtual Learning Environments. The scholar will be responsible for planning and implementing experiments and quasi-experiments on online and hybrid undergraduate science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) courses at UCI. This will include coordinating with STEM faculty, designing studies, selecting or adopting research instruments, collecting research data, analyzing data, and preparing presentations and publications.
Position will begin in July 1, 2019 (negotiable), and will continue for one year, with extension possible dependent on performance and availability of funding. Salary is commensurate with experience, plus health benefits.
Requirements: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Education, Educational Technology, Cognitive Sciences, Psychology, STEM, or a related field. Desirable qualifications include prior research on online learning; prior experience with higher education research; prior experience with STEM research; expertise in research design, inferential statistics, and data mining/learning analytics; knowledge of R and/or Python; prior experience with analysis of clickstream data; ability to collaborate with instructional faculty; and outstanding written and verbal communication.
