The Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing at the University of California, Irvine (UC Irvine) is seeking qualified candidates for all ranks in the non-tenure track Health Sciences Clinical professor series (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and/or Professor). Clinicians interested in pursuing an academic career in clinical practice and teaching will be given an opportunity to grow in UC’s youngest and fastest growing nursing school.
The UCI School of Nursing is distinguished by its community-based approach to promoting, improving, and sustaining health and wellness throughout the community. In January 2017, the University of California Board of Regents designated the program of nursing sciences as the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing. Ranked as one of the top 50 in research funding, the School of Nursing is dedicated to advancing evidence-based clinical practice and the discipline of nursing through scholarly research, education, and practice. Today, the School of Nursing is home to more than 200 highly qualified students and offers baccalaureate, master, and doctoral degrees. Many opportunities exist for collaboration with the campus and the diverse Orange County communities.
The School of Nursing is one of four academic units in the College of Health Sciences which includes a School of Medicine, Program in Public Health, and Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION: Master’s degree in Nursing or Post-Masters Certificate and current California RN license, are required. The School is seeking faculty with clinical and teaching experience in pediatrics, medical surgical, mental health, and/or gerontology. A minimum of 1-year direct patient care experience within the last 5 years or current teaching experience demonstrating clinical competency is required.
DESIRED SKILLS FOR THE POSITION: Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) preferred. Multiple BRN specialty area approval at the Instructor level is preferred. Desired skills in community health nursing, simulation, and online teaching.
