Lecturer in Secondary Literacy Methods for the Master of Arts in Teaching Program

The UC Irvine School of Education seeks applicants for temporary, part-time lecturer position in fall 2019-2020 to teach a course in the Master of Arts in Teaching + Single Subject Credential Program. Generally, part-time lecturer positions are offered for one quarter at a time and at varying percentages of time, depending on the number and nature of courses assigned. This 4-unit course is scheduled for 3 hours once a week and two sections will be offered.

Course Description:
ED 346 Reading and Writing in the Middle and High School: Emphasis is placed upon understanding the literacy processes (listening, speaking, viewing, reading, and writing) as they relate to different single subject areas (mathematics, sciences, English language arts, social science, art, world languages). Teachers are guided to integrate literacy-related strategies with curriculum-based goals supported in the California State Framework.

Service Period Dates for 2019-2020:
Fall Quarter: 9/23/19 – 12/13/19

Minimum Qualifications:
A master's degree, a record of successful teaching experience, California teaching credential, and demonstrated expertise in the content of the course to be taught. Relevant experience may be considered.

Desired Qualifications:
A doctoral degree in a field related to the course to be taught. Teaching at University level; experienced in digital learning technologies and using Canvas as a learning management system.

Salary:

Annual full-time salaries will begin at a base rate of $54,738.
