The Department of English at the University of California, Irvine, invites applications for a tenured-track assistant professor in Global Black Studies. Under this broad rubric are included Anglophone literatures of the Black Atlantic, sub-Saharan Africa, the Americas (e.g. African American, Afro-Latinx, Caribbean, etc.), and the African diaspora broadly conceived. We are particularly interested in transnational or global approaches to any period or region that seek to contextualize inquiry within broader historical frameworks.
Requirements: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand by June 30, 2019

- Indicate the candidate’s teaching experiences to date, including experience with teaching undergraduates/graduate students, or other populations, as well as their areas of interest. This should also include mentorship that they have given to others in the line of research or outreach activities.
- Detail the candidate’s teaching approaches and philosophies, as to how they will engage in effective teaching strategies.
