Associate Director and Senior Researcher, Connected Learning Lab

The Department of Informatics, University of California, Irvine is hiring an Associate Director for the Connected Learning Lab (CLL). The CLL is an interdisciplinary research institute focused on studying and developing learning and wellness technologies and programs that are learner centered, innovative, and equity-oriented. It serves 36 faculty and their research teams in the schools of Information and Computer Science, Education, Social Ecology, and Social Sciences.

The Associate Director would report to and work closely with CLL Director Mizuko Ito, and would provide operational leadership in addition to developing a research program and extramural funding in alignment with the strategic priorities of the lab. We are seeking a well-established scholar and research administrator in the field of connected learning, to provide leadership, foster collaboration, and contribute the visibility and fundraising capacity of the lab . Responsibilities include but are not limited to advising on strategic priorities, fundraising, lab-wide budget analysis and management, allocating staff effort across projects and responsibilities, staff hiring and reviews, organizing the lab steering committee meetings and community events,

Requirements:

  • PhD in a related discipline or field
  • At least 15 years of research experience, including leadership and administration of significant federal and private grants
  • Strong fundraising track record from both federal agencies and private foundations
  • Strong record of both academic publishing as well as writing of reports for educational practitioners and policy makers
  • Proven ability to lead both quantitative and qualitative, and multi-investigator research studies
  • Outstanding senior management and collaboration skills.

The position is full time, and includes benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience. Position is for two years with the possibility of continuing, depending on funding.
