Open Rank Faculty Position - Health Informatics

University of California, Irvine - Department of Informatics

The Department of Informatics in the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) invites applications for a tenure-track position in health informatics.

The search is comprehensive and we encourage applicants from a broad range of disciplines to apply. The department is highly interdisciplinary with faculty backgrounds in anthropology, computer science, design, education, health informatics, humanities, media arts, organizational studies, psychology, and software engineering. Building on our strong ties with many parts of campus, including Public Health, the School of Medicine, Social Ecology, and others, we are continuing to invest in establishing a strong presence in health informatics. We are especially interested in bridging health with one or more of the department’s existing areas of strength, including human-computer interaction, software engineering, digital media and learning, and design. Known for our innovative research and education in and across area boundaries, we seek to further bolster our reputation with the recruitment of a new colleague who will thrive in and add to this environment.

Our search is intentionally broad. We appreciate scholarship of all varieties, whether empirical, technological, methodological, or analytical in nature.

UCI is ranked No. 1 by Money magazine on its 2019-2020 list of the nation’s best colleges, making UCI the first public university to achieve the top spot. For nine consecutive years UCI has been named a top 10 “Coolest School” by Sierra magazine for our innovative sustainable practices. UCI is located in Orange County, four miles from the Pacific Ocean and 45 miles south of Los Angeles. Irvine is one of the safest communities in the U.S. and offers a very pleasant year-round climate, numerous recreational and cultural opportunities, and one of the highest-ranked public school systems in the nation.
