Position description

A Postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory led by Francesco Marangoni within the Department of Physiology and Biophysics and the Institute for Immunology at the University of California-Irvine. The mission of our lab is to investigate the immunoregulatory mechanisms that take place during physiologic wound repair and are deranged in skin autoimmunity and cancer, with the long-term goal of manipulating them to devise new forms of immunotherapy against disease. We investigate immune responses by combining genetic mouse models to visualize immune functions (e.g. T cell activation, macrophage inflammatory potential) to the cutting-edge technology of multiphoton intravital microscopy. Current projects in the lab include the study of how regulatory T cells are activated in cancer when checkpoint blockade immunotherapy is administered, and studying the mechanisms by which the tumor instructs macrophages to abandon pro-inflammatory and gain reparative / anti-inflammatory capabilities through the creation of a model in which macrophages change color depending on function. Please refer to our website www.immunoimaging.org for further information and key references.

The successful candidate holds a PhD in immunology, was highly productive during his doctoral studies, and is excited to work in a fast-paced and stimulating environment. He/she loves to mentor and be mentored, is a great team player, and has a very solid motivation to pursue a career in science. A strong experience with immunological investigation using mouse models is required. Experience in imaging, molecular cloning, generation of transgenic mice, single cell genomics or bioinformatics is considered a welcome plus.

Inquiries about the position should be directed to Francesco Marangoni, PhD at f.marangoni@uci.edu.

Applicants should complete the application profile and upload the following application materials electronically to be considered for the position: https://recruit.ap.uci.edu/JPF05720

  1. Cover letter including a short statement of your motivation to pursue immunological investigation through functional intravital microscopy
  2. Curriculum vitae
  3. Names and contact information for 2-3 referees

Applications will be considered until the position is filled.
