One Junior Specialist or Assistant Specialist position is immediately available in Dr. Francesco Marangoni’s laboratory at the Department of Physiology and Biophysics (http://physiology.uci.edu/) and the Institute for Immunology (http://www.immunology.uci.edu/), University of California Irvine. The mission of our laboratory is to investigate the immune mechanisms that counteract an effective immune response in a variety of physiologic (e.g. wound healing) and pathologic (e.g. diabetes and cancer) contexts using intravital multiphoton microscopy as the main discovery tool, with the long-term goal to manipulate these processes to improve human health. Please visit our website www.immunoimaging.org for further information and references on intravital microscopy.
We are looking for somebody that likes to work in a fast-paced, exciting yet collegial environment and that becomes the reference point for all the lab in terms of lab administration and application of the techniques we have in place. To do so you need to have strong organization skills, the willingness to learn and set up experimental systems, and the capacity of interacting with all lab members nicely but effectively. There will be the opportunity of writing papers on the methods you will devise.
Experience working with cells and mice in sterile conditions is required. Knowledge in immunology, flow cytometry or molecular cloning is considered a plus.
