Position description

The Department of Philosophy at the University of California, Irvine, invites applications for a tenured-track assistant professor in Feminist Philosophy and/or Philosophy of Race. Applicants with interest in specializations that contribute to feminism and/or the philosophy of race (ranging from political philosophy and ethics to social philosophy, metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of mind and language, phenomenology and history of philosophy, that highlights the role of women and under-represented minorities) are strongly encouraged to apply.

Requirements: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand by June 30, 2020.

The online application includes: a cover letter, curriculum vitae, dissertation abstract, writing sample (20-30 pages), a teaching statement, a diversity statement, and a minimum of three reference letters. This statement should:

Indicate the candidate’s teaching experiences to date, including experience with teaching undergraduates/graduate students, or other populations, as well as their areas of interest. This should also include mentorship that they have given to others in the line of research or outreach activities.

Detail the candidate’s teaching approaches and philosophies, as to how they will engage in effective teaching strategies.
