Clinical Research Specialist - ( Assistant Level) Department of Dermatology, UC Irvine
Description
The University of California, Irvine, Department of Dermatology, is currently seeking applicants who hold an MD for a volunteer Clinical Research Specialist at the Assistant level. This opportunity is a 1-year position under the direction of Natasha Mesinkovska, M.D., Ph.D., Director of the Dermatology Clinical Research Center (DCRC). Dr. Mesinkovska is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist.

The Clinical Research Specialist will gain experience in the operation of industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated clinical trial protocols (including but not limited to IRB submission processes, patient recruitment, patient enrollment, preparation for study visits, evaluation of patients, collection and processing of laboratory samples, maintenance of regulatory documents and IRB records, data management and entry into computerized databases, and maintenance of registry databases). The Clinical Research Specialist will also have the opportunity to pursue scholarly activities such as publishing first-author manuscripts as appropriate, mentoring undergraduate and medical students, and participating in departmental Grand Rounds and conferences.

The Clinical Research Specialist will have the opportunity to observe physicians in the outpatient dermatology clinics once approved by Medical Staff Office to gain exposure to dermatologic conditions and treatments, provided that requirements for observership are submitted and clearance is obtained. This position is intended to provide a foundation for individuals to advance their academic careers in the field of dermatology.

This is an unpaid, volunteer position. The Clinical Research Specialist is a 1-year commitment to the department. We are seeking highly motivated individuals with strong organizational, writing and clinical skills, as well as a genuine interest in pursuing clinical research in dermatology.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates are required to have completed an MD degree. This position does not require eligibility for a medical license in the state of California.
