CALIFORNIA THEATRE LECTURER SEARCH

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, IRVINE –
CLAIRE TREVOR SCHOOL OF THE ARTS, DEPARTMENT OF DRAMA

The Department of Drama is establishing a search of qualified applicants for a position as part-time lecturer for Spring Quarter 2020 in the curriculum area of dramatic literature.

The department seeks applicants to teach an upper division undergraduate level class in California Theatre. Topics on theatrical performances in California might include 19th-century drama, ethnic and community theatres in the 20th and 21st century, native American drama, grassroot theatre, performative acts related to labor, gender, ethnicity, environment, and other political issues, transnational performances and others. A preferred candidate should have the knowledge of California theatre from historical, cultural, and theoretical perspectives, as well as practical experience in addressing specific California issues in performance. A PhD degree is required. Compensation for the quarter will be approximately $6,200.00 total and is non-negotiable.

Candidates for this position must show strong experience in teaching dramatic literature and working with diverse student population in a university environment. Experience in teaching students on writing research papers is also required. Candidates must demonstrate an excellent research and teaching profile in the field of California Theatre.
