The Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences at the University of California, Irvine, is seeking outstanding applicants for an Associate Dean of Experiential Education. This position will be part of the UCI School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences that is under development. The new school will be part of the Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences, which is currently comprised of five units: the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Program in Public Health, the School of Medicine, the Sue and Bill Gross School of Nursing, and the Susan Samueli Integrated Health Institute. The college is part of the integrated UC Irvine Health system that also encompasses UCI’s clinics and Orange County’s only academic medical center.
Candidates at the associate and full professor rank will be considered.
The successful candidate will develop and manage experiential education activities, develop and implement new experiential opportunities, and develop and participate in preceptor development and training programs. The candidate will be responsible for the quality assurance of the experiential education programs ensuring adherence to all ACPE Standards 2016 requirements related to experiential education; and will grow a cohort of volunteer faculty. The candidate will have responsibilities in didactic and experiential teaching within the PharmD program and be expected to provide clinical services consistent with their area of practice expertise and department needs. This position will report to the Associate Dean of Pharmacy Education and the Chair of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy Practice.
The successful candidate will be a PharmD from an accredited college/school of pharmacy and have completed at least a PGY1 pharmacy residency or have equivalent skills and experience. The candidate will either be licensed in California as a pharmacist, or be eligible for licensure within 6 months. High priority in selection will be given to candidates with: experience in experiential education at a pharmacy school, experience in a pharmacy practice setting (acute, ambulatory, or community), evidence of excellent communication, clinical, and teaching skills, outstanding organizational and administrative skills, demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and strong potential for academic advancement demonstrated by a record of innovation and creativity documented through evidence of scholarly activity appropriate for relevant faculty series.
