Position description

The Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences at the University of California, Irvine, is seeking outstanding applicants for faculty positions within the Department of Clinical Pharmacy Practice. These positions will be part of the UCI School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences that is under development. The new school will be part of the Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences, which is currently comprised of five units: the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Program in Public Health, the School of Medicine, the Sue and Bill Gross School of Nursing, and the Susan Samueli Integrated Health Institute. The college is part of the integrated UC Irvine Health system that also encompasses UCI’s clinics and Orange County’s only academic medical center.

Candidates at the assistant or associate professor rank will be considered.

The applicants should have clinical expertise that complements or expands upon the expertise of clinical faculty in the current Department of Clinical Pharmacy Practice or clinicians in the UC Irvine Health System, and be able to support the mission of building a pharmacy school that is focused on advancing patient health and well-being, by fostering innovations across inter-professional education, training, research, and clinical practice.

Desired expertise includes but is not limited to the following areas: General Medicine, Cardiology, Compounding, Primary Care Ambulatory Medicine, Transitions of Care, Pediatrics, Geriatrics, Managed Care or Administrative Sciences related to drug utilization management, pharmacoeconomics or outcomes research. A successful candidate will be expected to teach both students and residents at the didactic and experiential levels and will also engage in clinical practice and scholarly activities. This position will report to the Chair of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy Practice.

Applicants must have a pharmacy degree, should have completed postgraduate training (e.g. Ph.D), residency or fellowship, have experience in relevant clinical service and teaching, demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, show promise for academic advancement within the UC system, and be eligible for California pharmacy licensure as applicable to the position. Board certification in pharmacotherapy or a specialty area is highly desirable. Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team are essential.

Candidates with a focused clinical practice that includes a record of scholarly achievement is desirable. Salary and appointment level will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and based on published UC pay scales.
