Associate Professor (In Residence Series)

The University of California Irvine (UCI) School of Medicine, Department of Neurology invites applications for a full-time position. The academic appointment is at Associate Professorial rank in the In-Residence series, which confers membership in the UCI Academic Senate. The School and Department seek a MD or MD-PhD clinical neuroimmunologist or neurologist with a strong academic background and established research program in image analysis, translational neuroimaging, retinal imaging and related fields. Candidates are expected to have a leadership role in a program for translational neuroimmunology and in training the next generation of biomedical research scientists in addition to leading their own research program. Specific expertise in autoimmune neuroinflammatory disorders, i.e. multiple sclerosis and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders is required.
The successful recruit will collaborate with other UCI faculty to build multidisciplinary research programs that utilize retinal and neuroimaging approaches to more deeply understand brain biology and treat disease. To achieve this goal, the candidate will be able to leverage existing resources and strengths of UCI Health and its campus partners, including the Multiple Sclerosis Center, Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory, Institute for Clinical and Translational Sciences, Sue and Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center (SCRC), Center for Complex Biological Systems (CCBS), Center for Artificial Intelligence in Diagnostic Medicine (CAIDM) and graduate and resident training programs in the neurosciences, biomedical sciences, and systems biology.
The successful recruit will also participate in teaching and mentoring activities of the department, which may involve medical students, graduate students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty.
