Postdoctoral Scholar in Cancer Genetic Epidemiology
The Department of Population Health & Disease Prevention and the Department of Epidemiology at the University of California-Irvine seeks a postdoctoral researcher to study genetic epidemiology in cancer.
We are seeking to hire a highly motivated, dedicated individual. Areas of particular interests are: 1) genetic epidemiology and 2) population genomics of cancer. The position will involve considerable data analysis of multi omics data from public datasets (e.g., TCGA) or GWAS data.
The candidates must hold a Ph.D. and possess an outstanding publication record. Candidates should have a strong background in two or more of the following areas: Epidemiology, Genetics, Nutrition, Bioinformatics or Biostatistics. Prior research experience on cancer epidemiology and analysis of DNA/RNA data based on big databases is required. Knowledge of using one of the data analysis tools is required (e.g., Python, SAS, DNASeq, RNASeq). Other computer working experience, e.g., Linux Cluster (SGE), Tophat, HTSeq, EdgeR, Samtools, Bcftools, GenAbel, is not required but will be a merit. Strong molecular biology background is also a plus. The candidate must possess strong communication skills, excellent organizational skills and proficient working knowledge of cancer epidemiology and bioinformatics. This position is offered at 100% full-time appointment for one year. An extension is possible upon availability of new research grants.
