The Wunderlich lab in the Department of Developmental and Cell Biology at UCI is seeking applicants for a Junior Specialist (technician) position. The lab studies the mechanisms of how regulatory DNA, like promoters and enhancers, control gene expression, both in development and in the innate immune response.
The incumbent will assist lab members with their research projects and will help with general lab tasks. The research component will involve molecular biology, Drosophila genetics, and possibly microscopy and cell culture. The general lab tasks will include media preparation and Drosophila stock maintenance.
A successful candidate will demonstrate open communication, a strong sense of responsibility, a desire to learn new skills and be part of a scientific team. We seek candidates who show evidence of their willingness to try new things and to bring projects to completion (in any setting, scientific or otherwise). An undergraduate degree is required and experience in molecular biology is advantageous.
