Associate Dean for Research and Professor in Public Health
The University of California, Irvine, Program in Public Health, Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences, is seeking applicants for Associate Director for Research in the Program of Public Health, to become Associate Dean for Research as we transition to the planned School of Population and Public Health. The successful candidate will also be appointed to the faculty of the program/school, at the rank of full Professor with tenure.
Qualifications include an outstanding extramurally funded research program, and experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate, graduate, and/or postdoctoral students. Relevant leadership experience such as service as Chair or Director of a successful department or research unit, Principal Investigator of a program project/center grant, or equivalent experience is highly desirable. All applicants must have a doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, DrPH, or MD), as well as a strong record of research accomplishments and publications.
The associate dean will have the opportunity to shape and expand the School of Public Health through building and improving our research infrastructure, targeted recruitment of high impact faculty members, investments to support growth in extramural research grants, and articulating a vision that inspires philanthropic funding. The associate dean will demonstrate transparency, a deep sense of professionalism, commitment to diversity and inclusion in all its forms, and strong support for transdisciplinary and inter-professional collaboration in health research.
The planned School of Population and Public Health will be home to four Departments:
• Population Health and Disease Prevention (an existing department within the Program in
• Epidemiology and Biostatistics (an existing department moving from School of Medicine)
• Environmental and Occupational Health (a new department)
• Health, Society, and Behavior (a new department)
