Position description

Applications are invited for an appointment as Assistant Research Scientist in observational extragalactic astronomy at the University of California, Irvine. The successful candidate will carry out independent research in areas related to galaxy evolution and/or active galactic nuclei. Required qualifications include a record of research and scientific publications in extragalactic astronomy, and a demonstrated record of securing external funding support. This is a non-tenure-track research position, and the researcher will be responsible for securing external funding to support their research.

The appointment is expected to begin in Summer 2020, with a negotiable starting date. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in astronomy or physics and at least three years of postdoctoral research experience. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
