Position: Assistant Researcher

The University of California-Irvine, Department of Radiological Sciences seeks a non-tenured, academic term appointments as Assistant Researcher. The position involves research investigation in the areas of multi-modality molecular imaging. Research in this laboratory focuses on instrumentation and novel image reconstruction algorithms development for optical, nuclear, CT, US and MRI modalities as well as their combinations such as MRI/Optical, MRI/Nuclear, CT/Optical, and US/Optical techniques.

In addition, the candidate will serve as a manager of the In-Vivo Functional Onco-Imaging Shared Resource of the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center at UCI. The manager is responsible for helping all Cancer Center members incorporating imaging into their research including selection of the suitable imaging modality, design of the study, preparation of necessary IACUC and IRB protocols, acquisition and analysis of the data.

Requirements:
Applicants with a broad background in medical imaging, optical imaging, engineering or physics who hold a doctorate degree and who possesses a strong motivation to pursue an academic medical physics career are encouraged to apply. Strong background in physics, mathematics, software and hardware development skills are essential for this research.
Solid training and work experience in instrumentation and image reconstruction software development for Optical, Nuclear, Ultrasound and MRI modalities are necessary. Experience in Finite Element Based image reconstruction algorithms for multi-modality imaging techniques is required. In addition to this, priority will be given to candidates with preclinical expertise including aptitude to perform animal surgery. The ability to communicate both verbally and in written format is very important.
