Description

Postdoctoral Scholar Position – Schoenung Group

One postdoctoral position is available in the field of green engineering and sustainable development of materials in Professor Julie Schoenung’s laboratory in UCI’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering. The postdoctoral scholar will conduct research on multiple criteria decision analysis based approaches to advancing the sustainable use and development of materials in a variety of applications. Analytical methods will include but not be limited to alternatives assessment, environmental impact assessment and economic feasibility evaluation. Applicants should be recent Ph.D. graduates with backgrounds in materials science and engineering, or related fields (degree date of 2019 or later). The candidate must be self-motivated and have extensive previous experience in life cycle assessment, chemical hazard and toxicity assessment, process-based techno-economic assessment and modeling, critical materials flow analysis, life cycle assessment, and related data analysis. The position will also entail mentoring graduate and undergraduate students; writing research proposals; and preparation, submission and publication of peer reviewed journal papers.
