The Suetterlin lab in the Department of Developmental and Cell Biology at UCI is seeking applicants for a Junior Specialist (technician) position. The lab studies host-pathogen interactions between the bacterium Chlamydia and an infected human cell.

The successful candidate will assist lab members with their research projects and will help with general lab tasks. The research component will involve cell biological techniques, including fluorescence microscopy, protein analysis, protein knockdown and knockout, as well as Chlamydia genetics and cell culture.

This individual will demonstrate open communication, a strong sense of responsibility, a desire to learn new skills, have strong organization skills, including good record keeping, and be part of a collaborative scientific team. An undergraduate degree is required and experience in cell biology, molecular biology and microbiology is advantageous.
