Position description

The UC Irvine School of Education seeks applicants for temporary, part-time lecturer position in 2020-2021 to teach a course in the Master of Arts in Teaching + Single Subject Credential Program. Generally, part-time lecturer positions are offered for one quarter at a time and at varying percentages of time, depending on the number and nature of courses assigned. This 4-unit course is scheduled for 3 hours once a week and one section will be offered.

Course Description:

EDUC 337. Methods of Teaching Social Science in the Secondary School
Theories, strategies, and methodologies related to the teaching of history and social science in the secondary school. Emphasis on the planning, delivery, and assessment of lessons reflecting an understanding of the History-Social Science Framework for California.

Service Period Dates for 2020-2021:
Fall Quarter: 9/28/20 – 12/18/20

Minimum Qualifications:
A master's degree, a record of successful teaching experience, a California Teaching Credential, demonstrated expertise in the content of the course to be taught. Relevant experience may be considered.

Desired Qualifications:
A doctoral degree in a field related to the course to be taught. Teaching at University level; experience in digital learning technologies and use of Canvas as a learning management system.

Salary:

Annual full-time salaries will begin at a base rate of $56,381.
