Graduate Professional Development Programs Manager
Position description
Based in the UCI Humanities Center, the Graduate Professional Development Programs Manager will report to the Humanities Center executive director and faculty director. This position will also work closely with the School of Humanities Office of Graduate Study. The three primary responsibilities are: manage the embedded cross-disciplinary graduate student researcher (GSR) program; manage the Humanities Out There summer internship program, and develop and implement consistent career pathways programming for humanities graduate students.
Both the embedded GSR and the summer internship programs will require developing and maintaining partnerships across campus and in the local community, promoting the programs to humanities PhD students and departments, and completing School, Graduate Division and grant management paperwork. The Graduate Professional Development Programs Manager will ensure that the programs, especially the embedded GSR positions which are a new and unique form of graduate student training, receive the necessary attention to be successful.
The Humanities Center has provided professional development programming for humanities PhD students since it was established six years ago. While career pathways beyond the academy have been included, this programming has been offered on an ad hoc basis. The Graduate Professional Development Programs Manager will ensure that the School of Humanities can offer consistent and wide-ranging programming on career-related professional development, with an emphasis on non-academic careers.
This is a 100% FTE, 12-month, four-year contract position.
