Junior Specialist or Assistant Specialist – Lisa Wagar’s Laboratory

One full-time Junior Specialist or One full-time Assistant Specialist position is immediately available in Dr. Lisa Wagar’s laboratory at the Department of Physiology and Biophysics (http://physiology.uci.edu/) and the Institute for Immunology (http://www.immunology.uci.edu/), University of California Irvine. The mission of our laboratory is to investigate the human adaptive immune response to infectious diseases and vaccines using immune organoid technologies, with the long-term goal of improving vaccine development and human immune health. The laboratory is new, so there may be opportunities to lead a scientific project, in addition to assisting with laboratory startup and sample collection logistics.

Successful candidates will have a strong background in one or more of the following research areas: immunology, organoid technology, and/or infectious diseases and vaccine work. In addition, the candidate should have experience working with primary human samples and be capable of working both independently and in a team environment. Experience with flow cytometry and working under BSL2 precautions is desired. There will be opportunities to contribute to publications. We are looking for an individual that likes to work in a fast-paced and collegial environment and will become a knowledge reference for techniques and logistical considerations in the lab. To do so you need to have strong organization skills, a willingness to learn and set up experimental systems, and to be collegial with other scientists within and outside of the Wagar lab.
