The Department of African American Studies at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for a part-time Non Senate Faculty position with primary responsibility in teaching a course in African American Studies for academic year 2020-21. Base salary per course is $7,047.63. The service dates are for Spring Quarter 2020 (03/24/21 to 06/11/21).
The department is searching for applicants who can teach the following course:
AfAm 128 - Topics in Gender/Sexuality: An undergraduate, upper-division, elective course for the major in African American Studies. The course should focus on the work of contemporary Black feminist critical theorists through the lenses of queer theory, psychoanalysis and critical race theory.
Ph.D. in African American Studies or a related field is required. Expertise in the study of Gender/Sexuality in African American Studies and substantial experience teaching undergraduates is preferred.
