Position description

The Henry Samueli School of Engineering may have need for one or more temporary Lecturers to teach the following course in the Interdisciplinary Studies Program during the 2020 – 2021 academic year:

ENGR 190W - Communications in the Professional World is an upper division technical writing course for students with junior or senior standing in Engineering. This interdisciplinary course is taught by an integrated team of lecturers that focus student learning on the techniques for technical and scientific writing, preparing and delivering oral presentations and the art of communicating technical information to the technical and non-technical public.

Minimum qualifications include a M.S./M.A. in Communications, English, Engineering or Science, experience in teaching a similar course and experience in positions requiring technical writing as a major responsibility of the job.

This course will fulfill the upper-division writing requirements, and will include the required assessment of student outcomes. Working as an integrated team, all instructors will collect samples and report data for all courses taught. These samples and data will be provided at the end of each term.

Winter Quarter 2021 service period: January 2, 2021 to March 20, 2021
