Postdoctoral Scholar for the Blum Center for Poverty Alleviation
Position description
The Division of Undergraduate Education at University of California, Irvine seeks one full-time Postdoctoral Scholar for one year.
This position will support research and course-related programs in the Blum Center for Poverty Alleviation.
Responsibilities will include:
Overseeing the UC-wide online course on the Science of Compassion, including identifying update points and devising content to maintain the course's relevance and accuracy (e.g., generating COVID-19 related content).
Organize and partner with faculty and communications teams to develop small short films on compassion-related research.
Helping to oversee the annual Measuring Other-Regard and Empathy (MORE) survey; assessing the impact of education, outreach, and intervention programs offered by the Blum Center; and analyzing and preparing data for publication.
Taking the lead role in organizing and developing a Massive Open Online Course offered through the Blum Center if project moves forward—including content development and presentation; curating or supervising the identification, creation and retaining of digital assets; reviewing and ensuring the academic quality of all created resources; content management within a LMS; creating assessments; and learner facilitation for the pilot MOOC offering.
Contributing subject matter expertise as an essential part of the educational development team to design the overall pedagogical structure and objectives and script of the MOOC.
Lead program evaluations such as that of the Global Service Scholars Program
Support assessment tool development and pilot projects of the Blum Center as needed.
Requirements: Applicants must possess a Ph.D. by date of employment. The incumbent will have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills and successful experience working collaboratively with diverse populations, including external partners.
