Postdoctoral Scholar - Mandt/Smyth
Position description
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position working with Stephan Mandt and Padhraic Smyth at the University of California, Irvine. Research topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
*deep learning and probabilistic modeling
*variational inference
*deep sequential models, neural point processes
*neural compression
We are looking for researchers with a Ph.D. in machine learning, statistics, mathematics, physics, or in a related field. The successful candidate has a strong track record including publications in top-tier journals/conference proceedings such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, UAI, AISTATS or JMLR, as well as strong mathematical and programming skills. Salary to be between $65,000 - $75,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
The Computer Science department at UC Irvine has a very active set of research groups in machine learning and related areas, with a long tradition in the field, and with close ties to departments such as Statistics, Mathematics, and Cognitive Science. UC Irvine is a top-10 public US university located in southern California, approximately one hour south of Los Angeles, one hour north of San Diego, and 5 minutes from Newport Beach.
