Position description

The theoretical machine learning group led by Professor Ioannis Panageas works at the forefront of research in non-convex optimization, high dimensional statistics, Neural Networks’ expressivity and Learning in Games. Recent results include numerous publications in the proceedings of STOC, ICML, NeurIPS, AISTATS, ICLR.

We anticipate that one full-time Post-doctoral Scholar position will be available and are looking for capable candidates to join our team. The appointment will be for one year and may be renewable if funding permits. The position requires a Ph.D. degree in Theoretical Computer Science or Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields. Expertise in theory of computer science or machine learning is required, demonstrated by at least three top-tier publications in conferences such as ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR, AISTATS, STOC, FOCS, SODA, ICALP, EC. Preferred qualifications include demonstrated experience in optimization, learning theory, approximation theory, dynamical systems and/or interdisciplinary research in these fields.

Salary to be between $65,000 - $75,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Candidates without experience and top publications in the area of theory of computer science and/or machine learning are not encouraged to apply.
