The UCI NLP group, headed by Professor Sameer Singh, and the Language Processing Group, headed by Professor Richard Futrell, carry out cutting-edge research in computational linguistics using machine learning, probabilistic models, and information theory. Recent products include numerous publications in ACL conference proceedings and cognitive science and linguistics journals.
We seek a candidate to join our team, to be supervised jointly by Professors Singh and Futrell, as a Post-doctoral Scholar. The position requires a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Linguistics, or a related quantitative field. Expertise in statistical machine learning, information theory, linguistics, and psycholinguistics is required, demonstrated by at least three top-tier publications in these areas. Preferred qualifications include demonstrated experience with neural variational inference, information bottleneck methods, computational models of human sentence processing, and formal language theory.
The salary is to be between $65,000 - $90,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Candidates without experience and top publications in the area of probabilistic computational modeling of human sentence processing are not encouraged to apply.
