Position description

The University of California, Irvine’s Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing is seeking applicants for a tenured Associate or Full Professor position. Candidates eligible for this position will have demonstrated strong programs of research and teaching. Candidates applying for this senate faculty position are expected to be licensed RN’s with a doctorate in nursing or allied fields. Preference will be given to candidates who have an exemplary track record of federal funding as principal investigator in Women’s Health or Oncology. Successful candidates will be responsible for teaching in one or more programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels (BS, MS, DNP, PhD) and will help prepare students for a career in the health field. Candidates must also show evidence of leadership as well as collaborative interdisciplinary partnership activities that will advance the science in health outcomes.

Applicants should submit complete applications that include the following: Statement of Teaching, Teaching Evaluations, Cover Letter, Curriculum Vitae, and 3-5 references written by superiors and/or academic advisors. Additionally, candidates must submit a statement on previous and/or potential contributions to diversity, equity and inclusion. The statement should be 1-2 pages and describe actions taken to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in service, teaching, or research/creative activity.

If the candidate does not include the signed authorization to release information with the application materials, the application will be considered incomplete. As with any incomplete application, the application will not receive further consideration. Although all applicants for faculty recruitments must complete the entire application, only finalists (i.e., those to whom the department or other hiring unit would like to extend a formal offer) considered for Ladder Rank Professor or Professor of Teaching series, at all ranks (i.e., assistant, associate, and full) positions will be subject to institutional reference checks.

ABOUT THE SUE & BILL GROSS SCHOOL OF NURSING
The Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing at UC Irvine is the newest nursing school in the prestigious University of California system. Designated as a School in 2017, it is currently ranked 24 in research funding among nursing schools. The School of Nursing offers baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degrees in Nursing Science and is home to more than 200 students. The School is dedicated to the education of nursing professionals who will improve patient care and promote population health, locally and globally. Our faculty and students spend over 10,000 hours a year working with local communities to provide healthcare to vulnerable populations like under-served schools, the homeless population, the older adult community, and those with mental health disorders. We strive to produce leaders in research, education, and clinical practice who will champion collaborative, compassionate, and interdisciplinary evidence-based practice. The School of Nursing is one of four academic units in the College of Health Sciences which includes a School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Program in Public Health.
