Position description

The Department of Physiology & Biophysics at University of California, Irvine seeks applications for Specialists (Associate or Full) position beginning July 1, 2021. The candidate will participate in research projects related to novel modes of ion channel and transporter function and regulation. The position will involve studies of ion channel and transporter physiology and regulation by small molecules. Prior training and experience are required in one or more of the following areas: two-electrode voltage-clamp, patch-clamp electrophysiology, brain slice electrophysiology, high-throughput drug screening and/or molecular biology with an emphasis on optimization of gene expression in heterologous systems.

Candidates for Assistant Specialist should have a M.S. (or in process of obtaining) a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) in biological or biomedical sciences with at least 5 years of research experience. A Ph.D. in biological or biomedical sciences and/or M.D. from an accredited university is preferred for Associate and Specialist ranks with completion of at least four years postdoctoral training in area of specialization at the time of appointment start is highly desirable.
