The Department of History at the University of California, Irvine announces part time, non-tenure-track lecturer positions for the 2021-2022 academic year. We are seeking candidates with strong teaching credentials who can contribute to our undergraduate program in the following areas:
• History 131C: Medieval Persia (Fall 2021)
A survey of Persian history in the context of Late Antique and Medieval Islamic history.
• History 18: Major Jewish Texts (Winter 2022)
Introduction to the diversity of Jewish cultures from ancient to modern times. Surveys the Jewish experience in various societies and civilizations: ancient Mediterranean, Middle East and North Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
• History 132D: Armenians and Armenia in Ancient to Early Modern World History (Winter 2022)
A history of Armenia and Armenians from ethnogenesis to the early modern period at the end of the 1700s within a regional and global context. Takes into account interactions and encounters with the empires, and peoples that encompassed their orbit.
The department will create a pool of candidates and will make selections when the final budget is approved. The salary is $7047.63 per course (based on an annual 9-month salary of $56,381.00).
