The Department of East Asian Studies at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for the position of a part-time Adjunct Assistant Professor for the 2021-2022 academic year. The successful candidate will teach three courses of classical Chinese language, one for each quarter, and one additional course on the candidate’s specialization. The candidate will also have opportunity to mentor graduate students and give a talk on current research.
Fall quarter service period: 9/20/2021-12/10/2021
Winter quarter service period: 1/3/2022-3/18/2022
Spring quarter service period: 3/23/2022-6/10/2022
Salary is based on UC salary scales and depends on qualifications. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.
Basic qualifications: Ph.D. in pre-modern Chinese literature or a related field at time of application (ABD may also be considered at the level of adjunct lecturer).
