Music Theatre History Lecturer Search


The Department of Drama is establishing a search of qualified applicants for a position as part-time lecturer for Fall Quarter 2021 in the area of Music Theatre History.

The department seeks applicants who can teach the History of Musical Theatre from 1943 – 1970. This course is an upper division lecture course and has an enrollment of 50-80 Graduate and Undergraduate students per quarter. It is a required course of all music theatre students. The course will be taught all online using Zoom and Canvas. The curriculum will be created in consultation with UCI Assistant Professor Zachary Dietz.

A BA in Music or Theatre is required. An MFA in Drama, English, History, Music or a related area is preferred. Previous experience teaching this music history curriculum is a plus.

Compensation for the quarter will be approximately $6,200.00 total and is non-negotiable.

Candidates for this position must have outstanding professional credits in theatre and/or film as well as a strong commitment to teaching, training, and working within the university.

Candidates must demonstrate a pedagogical and professional profile that is compatible with a distinguished graduate professional musical theatre degree program at a major research university. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability and commitment to work effectively with a diverse student population.
