Position description

One Postdoctoral Fellow position is immediately available in the Vaccine Research & Development Center (https://vaccine.uci.edu/) in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics (http://physiology.uci.edu/), University of California Irvine. The Vaccine R&D Center integrates immunology, pharmacology, physical sciences, bioengineering, chemistry, and clinical and translational medicine across the UCI campus, and is dedicated to the study of basic and clinical Vaccine Science.

We are currently seeking a recently-graduated post-doctoral fellow to lead a study using two-photon microscopy to study lymphocyte motility in lymphoid tissues using transgenic mouse models. This project will take advantage of state-of-the-art microscopy facilities at UCI and will be supervised by Dr. Shiva Othy (https://sites.uci.edu/shivashankarothy/home/). The successful candidate will be expected to publish research articles, and to also contribute to collaborative projects ongoing in the Center. This project is part of an NIH-funded project on Molecular Mechanisms of Combination Adjuvants. Details of the project can be seen here (https://reporter.nih.gov/project-details/10220313).

Successful candidates will have a strong background in mouse immunology and have experience in rodent immunization, immunogenicity studies, and necropsy of tissues. Interest in learning 2-photon microscopy is essential. In addition, the candidate will be capable of working both independently and in a team environment.

Applications will be considered until the position is filled. Positions are dependent on extramural funding. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Initial appointments are for one year and renewal will be dependent on availability of support. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
