Specialist Series, Open Ranks, Durkin
Position description
The Durkin lab at the Beckman Laser Institute & Medical Clinic has multiple open positions. Potential applicants should have an interest in translational optical imaging. Responsibilities include collection and analysis of Spatial Frequency Domain Imaging data from in both preclinical and clinical settings as well as instrument design, fabrication, validation and application. Experience in biophotonics and tissue optics is preferred. Experience with MATLAB programming is desirable. Candidate should also have experience assembling instrumentation.
Junior Specialists - Should possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree preferably in Physics, Chemistry, or Optical Engineering) or equivalent research experience.
Assistant Specialists - Should possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree), or 5 yrs. of experience.
Associate Specialists - Should possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or 5-10 yrs. of experience.
Specialists - Should possess a terminal degree (PhD/MD) (or equivalent degree) or 10+ yrs. of experience
Requirements:
Professional communication skills, both written and oral, are a must, as is a willingness to help manage projects. Candidates must have the ability to work in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary setting. All appointments are for one year with the potential for extension dependent upon performance and funding.

Qualifications
Candidates at Associate and Specialist level may have B.S. or M.S. preferably in Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Materials Characterization, etc.
