Job Description
The University of California, Irvine's Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND) has an opportunity for an associate Specialist in the lab of Dr. Daniel Nation. This position entails working closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) in the overall management of a laboratory conducting clinical and translational research in human subjects. Job duties include broad administrative, scientific and academic duties to be completed in coordination with the PI. Administrative duties include assisting the PI in oversight of all regulatory compliance tasks, such as drafting and maintaining Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols, laboratory safety protocols, and all other compliance issues within the university, with research sponsors and other related institutions, as well as assistance in management of laboratory staff, laboratory equipment and supplies, budgetary planning and other pre- and post-award administrative tasks. Additional administrative duties include leading subject recruitment and retention efforts and some aspects of laboratory public relations (website, events, etc.) Scientific duties involve collaboration with the PI and other laboratory scientists in the development, maintenance, training and execution of specialized technical protocols, including neuropsychological assessments, physiological assessments and biofluid sampling, cell culture and molecular bioassays, neuroimaging protocols, data processing, and database management. Academic duties include assisting the PI in collaborations with other investigators, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students, as well management and training of undergraduate and post-baccalaureate research experiences within the laboratory.

Requirements
Applications are sought from candidates with a Bachelor's degree or higher in psychology, neuroscience or related fields with a strong laboratory research background (minimum 3 years working in the laboratory), publications, and specialized training in cognitive assessment, cell culture, and neuroimaging. Interdisciplinary skills and approaches in Psychology and Neuroscience are strongly desired.
