Position description
The Department of Economics seeks to hire one part-time Junior Specialist, working as a researcher. The position requires the applicant to either have a BA degree in economics, statistics, or data analysis; or to be in the process of completing such a degree. The researcher will work under the supervision of a faculty member in the Department of Economics. The duties include checking data and analysis files on an existing project and replicating the code and results, conducting additional statistical analysis of the data, reviewing published research, and writing summaries of findings. An interest in Development Economics is encouraged.
The required skills are knowledge of econometrics, including linear regression, and ability to use STATA software to analyze data. Additional helpful skills are use of MATLAB software, programming in Python, and scraping data from the Web. A background in economics is essential.
The position will pay $22.42 hourly. Estimated number of hours per week not to exceed 20.
