Position description

Assistant, Associate, or Full Clinical Professor in Neuro-Ophthalmology.

The Gavin Herbert Eye Institute at the University of California, Irvine, is seeking candidates for a full-time faculty position as an Assistant, Associate or Full Clinical Professor in Neuro-ophthalmology, with or without a secondary sub-specialty. The appointment series, dependent upon the qualifications of the candidate, may be a member of the Academic Senate in the Professor of Clinical X Series or in a Non-Senate appointment in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series.

Candidates must have an MD or DO degree and be licensed or be eligible for licensure by the California Medical Board, and must have completed residency training in comprehensive ophthalmology or neurology followed by fellowship training in neuro‐ophthalmology. Demonstrated capabilities for teaching and professional service are required. Duties will include excellent patient care in addition to sharing in the responsibility for didactic and clinical training of fellows, residents, and medical students. Research is not a mandatory requirement for this position; however, the department encourages research and/or creative activity.

Our department offers a vibrant clinical and academic environment which fosters professional growth and development. The neuro-ophthalmology service benefits from an extensive referral network within and outside of the UCI system, which is the largest academic institution in Orange County.

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

M.D. or D.O. degree required. As well as, completion of a residency program in Ophthalmology and candidate must be eligible for licensure in California.
