Position description

The Department of Biological Chemistry in the UCI School of Medicine invites applications for a position at the level of ASSOCIATE or FULL PROFESSOR. We seek outstanding candidates with a research focus on uncovering epigenetic mechanisms that are related to disease development and can lead to therapeutic advances for viral infections and inflammation. Applicants should hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree, and have a track record of leading a vigorous extramurally-funded research program with multidisciplinary approach to elucidate molecular mechanisms. The Department of Biological Chemistry (BC) is highly interdisciplinary, with particular strengths in epigenetics, cancer, metabolism, circadian biology, fungal infection, and bioinformatics. Faculty of BC benefit from participation in the Center for Epigenetics & Metabolism, the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, the cancer center-affiliated Cancer Research Institute (CRI), the Institute for Immunology, and the Center for Virus Research. Interested candidates should submit the following documents: curriculum vitae, a description of research interests, and a separate statement that addresses past and/or potential contributions to diversity, equity and inclusion. Criteria for the research and diversity statements are provided below. Review of applications will begin February 2022 and continue until the position is filled.

Research Statement (maximum 3 pages). This statement should:

  1. Detail the candidate’s specific area of expertise, with a description of their contributions to the field.
