Position description
A Postdoc in microscopy and spatial multiomics is available in the Shi lab at University of California, Irvine, funded by grants from the NIH and private foundations. Our mission is the development of cutting-edge spatial multiomics technology and super-resolution microscopy methods.
We have ongoing research efforts in (1) developing novel spatial multiomics (transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics, etc.), and new super-resolution microscopy (2) studying structure-function relationships in the nucleus, cross-organelle interaction, and cell signaling with super-resolution microscopy, and (3) interrogating mechanisms of Alzheimer’s Disease and cancer heterogeneity via imaging and spatial multiomics. The postdoc will lead the spatial multiomics development and have the opportunities to explore any other research areas in the lab. The minimum requirements for the position are: 1) a PhD in life sciences, bioengineering, or a related discipline; 2) experience with anyone of the following areas: microscopy, single-cell analysis, mass spec, tissue imaging, molecular biology; 3) At least one first-author paper in a respectable journal; 4) fluency in English, and the interpersonal skills to negotiate professional interactions in a diverse environment; and 5) the willingness to work hard in the pursuit of shared goals.
