Position description

Position Description:

The Browne Lab (Eye-Testing Lab) is part of the Center for Translational Vision Research at UCI. The Browne lab is dedicated to engineering tools to image and test visual function. Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of irreversible blindness in the aging population. We seek to develop an imaging system for use in humans and to use it to directly examine the causes of AMD in human subjects. This new camera employs 2-photon (2P) excited fluorescence to stimulate and detect fluorophores intrinsic to the human retina. With humans as the only reliable animal model to study AMD, we will use the new 2P instrument to study cellular biochemistry normal and diseased retina in living human subjects.
