Position description

The UC Irvine Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in the Samueli School of Engineering is accepting applications for several Postdoc position(s), to work within the ProperData Center: http://properdata.eng.uci.edu. The research is in the general area of personal data privacy and transparency, and we are looking for Postdoc(s) with a range of expertise, including but not limited to the following areas: privacy and security; networking; Internet-of-Things, mobile devices, machine learning, data protection laws. Of particular interest are the topics of privacy-preserving machine learning techniques, algorithm fairness and auditing, and theoretical underpinnings of data privacy. The Postdoc(s) will be expected to: work within an interdisciplinary and multi-institutional team; interact with industry and policy partners; work closely with the UCI PhD students, Lead PI/Director and Assistant Director of ProperData; write papers and assist with proposals and reports.

A doctorate in computer science, electrical engineering, or a closely related field, from an accredited university, is required at the time of hire. Successful candidates will have a strong publication record in one or more of the above areas.
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Initial appointments are for one year and renewal is based on availability of support and need.
