A major focus of this position will be to utilize various imaging modalities to identify and quantify variations in inflammatory, vascular and neuronal activation in vitro and an established mouse model of sickle cell disease and cancer. This will be accomplished using a variety of technologies including pain behaviors, confocal microscopy imaging, live calcium imaging, mast cell and neuronal cell culture, cell and molecular biology and analysis with ELISA. This position will involve method development, data analysis and preparing the data for presentation and publication.
The Postdoctoral Scholar will also be encouraged to attend and present the results of their research at scientific conferences, participate in study meetings and interact with collaborative research groups; mentor and work with graduate and undergraduate students; develop and pursue their own research ideas; as well as develop and polish any skills and experiences that they feel will best prepare them for their career goals.
