Position description
The Department of Classics at the University of California, Irvine, invites applications for part-time lecturer positions for the 2022-23 academic year. The part-time lecturer positions are pending enrollment and funding.
Fall 2022:
Service period: 9/19/22-12/9/22
9/12 pay period: 7/1/22-10/31/22
9/9 pay period: 10/1/22-12/31/22
Winter 2023:
Service period: 1/4/23-3/24/23
9/12 pay period: 11/1/22-2/28/23
9/9 pay period: 1/1/23-3/31/23
Spring 2023:
Service period: 3/29/23-6/16/23
9/12 pay period: 3/1/23-6/30/23
9/9 pay period; 4/1/23-6/30/23
The anticipated teaching load will vary over the three quarters, between one and three classes per quarter. The scheduled courses are: upper-division Greek (prose and poetry), lower-division and upper-division Latin (prose and poetry), and Classical civilization (ancient Greece and ancient Rome).
REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Classics (in hand by September 19, 2022) and preferably at least one year of university teaching experience. Experience in teaching Greek and Classical civilization courses along with proven excellence in teaching are essential.
The non-negotiable starting salary, per the 2021-22 Lecturer salary scale, is $7,806.88 per course or $62,455/year for a 100% appointment.
