Position description

A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Mei Kong in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry in the School of Biological Sciences at University of California, Irvine.

Research in the Kong laboratory focuses on understanding the crosstalk between signaling pathways, metabolic regulation, and epigenetics in cancer, diabetes, obesity, and aging. We are particularly interested studying: 1) crosstalk between metabolism and epigenetics; 2) using diet/metabolites to sensitize current therapeutic response for cancer treatment; 3) mechanisms to regulate metabolic homeostasis. We apply a combination of mammalian genetics, biochemistry, bioinformatics and metabolomics tools, using both in vitro and in vivo models to address those questions. Our ultimate goal is to develop novel therapies to restore normal metabolism and improve treatment for cancer and metabolic diseases (Nat Cell Biol. 18(10):1090; Nature Cancer. 1(3):345-58; Nat Commun.10(1):809; Mol Cell, 50(2):200-11; Genes & Dev 30(16):1837; Nat Commun. 11(1):3326;). Detailed publications from the lab can be found here:
